Game of Thrones Filming Locations Tour

Moi Drodzy mam dziś nie lada gratkę dla fanów Gry o Tron.

Zabiorę Was na wirtualną wycieczkę do Irlandii Północnej,

w miejsca gdzie kręcono sceny z tego filmu.

Uprzedzam będzie bardzo dużo zdjęć, ale jak tutaj się oprzeć gdy widoki takie cudne.

To co zaczynamy?

1. Antrim Coast Road (Trasa wzdłuż wybrzeża Antrim)

Jest to jedna z najsłynniejszych nadmorskich dróg, 

znalazła się w pierwszej dziesiątce najpiękniejszych dróg wiodących wzdłuż wybrzeża.

Przez większą część droga wije się wśród miast, miasteczek i wiosek.

W niektórych częściach trasa wiedzie między 100 metrowymi klifami a morzem.

Widoki zapierają dech w piersiach, 

zresztą co będę się rozpisywać jak obrazki mówią same za siebie:-)

Today, I want to take you on a great trip to Northern Ireland

to discover filming locations of Game of Thrones.

I must warn you, there will be lots of pictures:-)

1. Antrim Coast Road 

The Antrim Coast Road is one of the most famous and beautiful road trips in the world.

A large part of the road is winding through the countryside, following the scenic coastline.

There are some parts built between large 100 metres high cliffs and the sea.

It is all very picturesque just have a look at these pictures:-)

2. Port Carnlough 

Carnlough to mała wioska, w której znajduje się mały port i plaża.

To tutaj nakręcono scenę z odcinka 7, sezonu 6 

gdy Arya Stark była wielokrotnie dźgnięta nożem przez Waifa. 

Arya następnie wskakuje do lodowatej wody, aby uciec 

i potem wyjść po kamiennych schodach.

2. Carnlough Harbour 

Carnlough is a small village with a small harbour and a beach.

In Season 6, Episode 7 one scene was filmed at Carnlough Harbour. 

It is a place where Arya Stark was repeatedly stabbed by the Waif. 

Arya then jumps into the freezing water to escape 

and she crawls up the steps into the streets of Braavos.

W Carnlough znajduje się też Londonderry Arms Hotel, który powstał w 1848 roku

i zbudowała go prababcia Winstona Churchilla.

Churchil odziedziczył hotel w 1921 roku, ale po jakimś czasie stwierdził, 

że go nie potrzebuje i oddał go za darmo.

Od 1946 roku hotelem zarządza rodzina O'Neill.

In Carnlough there is The Londonderry Arms Hotel, which was built in 1848 

by a great grandmother of Winston Churchil.

Sir Winston Churchill, inherited it in 1921. 

However, after some time he decided he didn't need it and he gave it for free.

The O'Neill family have owned and managed the hotel since 1946 

with its old world charm. 

3. Jaskinie Cushendun 

Cushendun to kolejna mała wioska leżąca na wybrzeżu Antrim.

To co przyciąga do niej turystów to jaskinie, które zostały wykorzystane przy kręceniu

4 odcinka, 2 sezonu jako miejsce narodzin Shadow.

Jaskinie były formowane przez 400 milionów lat.

3. Cushendun Caves 

Cushendun is another small village on the Antrim Coast Road.

 It was made famous by Game of Thrones in Season 2 Episode 4

as the Shadow creature’s birth site. 

The caves were formed over a period of 400 million years.

4. Zamek Dunluce 

Zbudowany w XIII wieku, ale pierwsze wzmianki o nim pochodzą z 1513 roku.

Z zamkiem wiąże się wiele legend i historii, a najsłynniejsza jest opowieść o tym jak,

którejś burzowej nocy 1639 roku kuchnia została pochłonięta przez morze.

Po tym wydarzeniu żona ówczesnego właściciela zamku 

odmówiła dalszego w nim zamieszkania. Według legendy ocalał tylko chłopak kuchenny,

ponieważ siedział w kącie, którego morze nie zabrało.

Jednak coś jest nie tak z tą legendą bo podobno kuchnia nadal w zamku jest,

a morze pochłonęło północną ścianę zamku.

Twórcy Gry o Tron użyli tego zamku jako podstawy do stworzenia

siedziby House of Greyjoy (efekty specjalne zrobiły swoje).

4. Dunluce Castle

It was built in the 13th century, but the earliest written record of the castle was in 1513.
The dramatic history of Dunluce is matched by tales of a banshee 
and how the castle kitchens fell into the sea one stormy night in 1639. 

The wife of the owner refused to live in the castle any longer.
According to a legend, when the kitchen fell into the sea, only a kitchen boy survived, 
as he was sitting in the corner of the kitchen which did not collapse. 
However, the kitchen is still intact and next to the manor house. 
You can still see the oven, fireplace and entry ways into it. 
It wasn't until some time in the 18th century that the north wall of the residence building 
collapsed into the sea. The east, west and south walls still stand.

The castle's amazing ruins are used for many exterior shots of the Pyke stronghold, 
seat of the House of Greyjoy – rulers of the Iron Islands in Game of Thrones.

5. Grobla Olbrzyma

Odkryta w 1692 roku przez biskupa miasta Derry.

Jest to formacja około 40 tysięcy ciasno ułożonych kolumn bazaltowych,

które uformowały się podczas wybuchu wulkanu 50-60 mln lat temu.

Ja jednak wolę legendę o powstaniu Grobli,

według której Groblę wybudował olbrzym Finn MacCumhaill (Finn MacCool), 

przywódca wojowniczej bandy Fianna, który chciał przejść do Szkocji suchą stopą 

i tam pokonać swojego szkockiego rywala Benandonner'a, który wezwał go na pojedynek. 

Jednak, gdy przeszedł i zobaczył, jak wielki jest szkocki olbrzym, 

w panice uciekł i z pomocą swojej żony przebrał się za dziecko. 

Gdy Benandonner przybył do Irlandii i zobaczył „dziecko" Finn'a, przeraził się. 

Jeśli tak duże jest dziecko, to jak wielki musi być ojciec. 

Uciekając do Szkocji po drodze porąbał Groblę by Irlandczyk nie mógł za nim wrócić.

Grobla Olbrzyma to jedno z miejsc, które miałam na liście "MUST SEE" od dawna.

Bardzo się cieszę, że udało mi się to marzenie zrealizować.

5. Giant's Causeway

It was discovered in 1692 by the Bishop of Derry.

It is an area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns,

which were formed as a result of volcanic fissure eruption 50 to 60 mln years ago.

However, I prefer a legend about a giant who built a causeway to get to Scotland.

The story goes that the Irish giant Finn MacCumhaill (Finn MacCool),

from the Fenian Cycle was challenged to a fight by the Scottish giant Benandonner.

Finn accepted the challenge and built the causeway across the North Channel

so the two giants could meet. However, when Finn saw the Scottish giant,

he realised that he was much bigger and came back home.

His wife disguised Finn as a baby and tucked him in a cradle.

When Benandonner saw the size of the 'baby', he reckoned that its father, 

Finn, must be a giant among giants. He fled back to Scotland in fright, 

destroying the causeway behind him so that Finn would be unable to chase him down.

The Giant's Causeway was on my "MUST SEE" list and I'm very happy I could visit it:-)

Jest jeden warunek, pieniążek nie może wypaść:-)))

In order to be lucky in life you should put a coin between the rocks.

There is one condition though the coin mustn't fall:-)))

6. Most linowy Carrick-A-Rede
Most został zbudowany w 1755 roku przez rybaków łowiących łososie.
Jest jedną z największych turystycznych atrakcji Irlandii Północnej.
Most łączy Irlandię Północną z malutką wysepką Carrickarede.
Most ma 20 metrów długości i rozpięty jest na 30 metrach,
otwarty jest cały rok w zależności od pogody,
przekroczyć go można za opłatą 8 funtów.
Na moście jednocześnie może znajdować się do 8 osób ponieważ most się kołysze:-)
Nie powiem, nogi się trochę trzęsą gdy się nim idzie, ale warto się po nim przejść:-)

6. Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge

Was first erected in 1755 by salmon fishermen.

It is a main tourist attraction. The bridge links the mainland 
to the tiny island of Carrickarede. It spans 20 metres and is 30 metres above the rocks below.

The bridge is open all year round (subject to weather) and people may cross it 
for a fee which is 8 pounds.
There are only 8 people allowed on a bridge at once and it becomes immediately clear 
why that is the case; the bridge bounces and with enough people on it the matched cadence 
from people walking makes the bridge move quite a bit. 
Fun to walk across though and take great pictures.
I must admit I was a little scared, but I did it:-))

Sheep Island

7. Larrybane
Zatoka Larrybane z majestatyczną Sheep Island to jedno z najbardziej malowniczych
miejsc na wybrzeżu Północnej Irlandii. Z klifów roztacza się cudowny widok,
również na most linowy Carrick-a-Rede.
Miejsce to, a w zasadzie parking został wykorzystany w Grze o Tron
w odcinku 3 sezonu 2 jako obóz Renly Baratheon.
Jest to też miejsce gdzie Brienne of Tarth pokonuje w pojedynku brata królowej
i okazuje się być dziewczyną.

7. Larrybane

Larrybane bay on the North Antrim Coast, protected by Sheep Island and a shallow reef, 

is one of the most sheltered and scenic locations along the Causeway Coast. 

From the cliffs above Larrybane the magnificent coastline can be viewed 

including Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge.

 It was made famous by Game of Thrones in Season 2 Episode 3

as Renly Baratheon's camp in the Stormlands.

It is also a place where Brienne of Tarth fights queen's brother

and she turns out to be a girl.

8. The Dark Hedges

Ta piękna aleja niesamowitych drzew to jedna z najpiękniejszych atrakcji turystycznych 

Północnej Irlandii. Drzewa zostały posadzone w XVIII wieku przez rodzinę Stuartów,

przy drodze prowadzącej do ich posiadłości tak by zaskakiwać swoich gości.

Posiadłość Stuartów nazywa się Gracehill House na cześć żony Jamesa Stuarta

i została zbudowana w 1775 roku.

Dlaczego po angielsku w nazwie jest Hedge (żywopłot) a nie Forest (las)?

Ponieważ drzewa na początku były przycinane tak by tworzyły żywopłot

i gdy później zaniechano przycinania powstały takie właśnie poplątane gałęzie.

Jest to cudowne miejsce, ale niestety bardzo zatłoczone i trudno tu o dobre zdjęcie.

W Grze o Tron aleja ta jest znana jako Droga Królewska.

W pierwszym odcinku 2 sezonu Arya Stark ucieka, przebrana za chłopca.

8. The Dark Hedges

This beautiful tree-lined avenue and a famous Northern Ireland landmark was planted 

by the Stuart family in the eighteenth century. The avenue leads to Gracehill House 

which was built around 1775. James Stuart named the house after his wife Grace Lynd, 

and the archway of intertwining beech trees was once part of the estate.

Why is it called Hedges not Forest? Well, at the beginning the trees were regulary cut 

to form a hedge and when cutting stopped they grew into these beautiful, unique trees.

It's a great spot, but very crowded so it's hard to take a good picture.

The avenue was used as a filming location for the Kingsroad in Season 2 Episode 1,

when Arya Stark, dressed as a boy, escaped King's Landing in the back of a cart.

Podczas wycieczki mieliśmy okazję poczuć się jak na planie filmu

i zrobić sobie zdjęcia rodem z Gry o Tron:-)))

During the trip we had an opportunity to feel like being on a film set

and have great pictures taken:-)))

Naszym przewodnikiem był Andrew, który pracuje jako statysta na planie Gry o Tron.

Opowiadał nam dużo o tym jak wygląda praca na planie filmu, 

dzielił się z nami ciekawostkami o aktorach, ale nie zdradzę Wam nic z tego co mówił 

by nie zepsuć Wam zabawy. Dziękuję Andrew za miło spędzony czas:-)))
